Step 1: Unbox and Inspect Your Trezor Device

Before connecting your Trezor, make sure that the packaging is intact. The device should come sealed and untampered. Trezor devices are shipped with holographic seals — if these are damaged or look suspicious, contact Trezor Support immediately. Inside the box, you’ll find:

• Your Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)

Each accessory serves a purpose — keep them organized and never share your recovery card with anyone.

Step 2: Visit the Official Setup Page

Open your web browser and navigate to the official website: https://trezor.io/start. This page will automatically detect your Trezor model and guide you through the setup.

You’ll be prompted to install Trezor Suite — the official desktop application for managing your wallet. It’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Once downloaded, install it following the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Connect and Initialize Your Device

Plug your Trezor device into your computer using the supplied USB cable. The Trezor Suite should automatically detect it. If it’s your first time, you’ll need to install the latest firmware. This is a critical security step that ensures your device runs the official software.

Creating a New Wallet

Choose “Create New Wallet.” Your device will generate a new 12-, 18-, or 24-word recovery seed. This seed is the only backup of your crypto assets. Write it down carefully on the provided seed card.

Step 4: Create a Strong PIN

Your Trezor will now ask you to create a PIN. This adds an extra layer of security. You’ll use this PIN each time you connect your device. Choose a unique number combination and avoid simple sequences like “1234” or “0000.”

The Trezor interface will display a randomized keypad for PIN entry, preventing any visual keylogging.

Step 5: Access Your Trezor Suite Dashboard

Once setup is complete, your Trezor Suite dashboard will display your accounts, balances, and transaction history. You can now:

• Receive and send Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of other coins
• Label transactions for better tracking
• Use password management or advanced security features

Step 6: Backup and Security Best Practices

Keep Your Recovery Seed Offline

• Passphrase: Adds another layer of protection — even if your recovery seed is compromised.
• Device Labeling: Name your device to easily identify it if you use multiple wallets.
• Firmware Updates: Keep your Trezor up to date via Trezor Suite for maximum security.

Step 7: Using Trezor with Exchanges and DApps

Trezor integrates seamlessly with popular exchanges and DeFi platforms. When connecting, always verify that the browser window or app is authentic. Never approve unknown transactions or sign requests you don’t understand.

You can connect your Trezor to wallets like MetaMask, Exodus, or Electrum for advanced use. Always confirm addresses on your device screen before sending funds.
